Madina and its Surrounding areas

It is a city of peace that draws smile on your lips when you enter its enclaves. The diversity of its locations, history and heritage, is most attractive. Among the famous landmarks in the province is the Mada'in Saleh that bewilders you with its huge rock cut tombs and designs. When you are here, you must visit the Hejaz railway to learn about the trade routes that were used in the antiquity.

Alola & Mada’en Saleh

Mada’en Saleh, also known as Al Hijr, is a series sandstone outcrop of various sizes and heights surrounded by a ring sand mountains. It is a pre-Islamic archaeological site located in the Al-Ula sector, within the Al Madinah Region of Saudi Arabia. Al Hijr was mentioned in the Holy Qur’an, as the home of the Thamud people. Mada’en Saleh is the most important settlement of the Nabataeans, second only to Petra. It’s most significant cultural role dates back to the first century B.C. and first century A.D., i.e., during the flourishing Nabataean state and before its fall at the hands of the Roman Empire in 106 A.D. Al Hijr continued to be a source of cultural energy and intellectual interaction probably until the 4th century A.D

Mosques and battle sites

The city of Madina recounts many glorious stories about the history of Islam through the battle sites such as Uhud and Al Khandaq (trench).  Additionally several noble and blessed mosques, most sacred in Islam, like the Masjid Nabawi Al-Sharif Mosque (Holy Prophet’s Mosque), the Quba Mosque and the Qiblatain Mosque enliven the story of Islam.

Attraction Sites

Worth noting that tourism in the Madina region is unique and unlike any other due to its diverse tourism components such as the historical battles sites and Islamic landmarks. “Ancient cities” like Mada’en Saleh take you back to the old times when the Romans and Nabateans lived in Arabia.
